SpeccyTour's Spirit

Hello again,

I'm very busy at the moment, so I've abandoned the blog for a while, but I'm always here :). I know everybody wants to win the tournament, but the spirit of the tournament is not to win at any price, the spirit is to enjoy playing old games while you learn to play them and improve your scores day after day.

When the tournament starts, you may think you never liked that game, and you won't be able to play more than 2 minutes on it, but you were wrong. I know that if you play a game and try to improve your scores, you'll get it. Yes, I also know that always there will be someone who could beat you, but may be not, so you can be the master of that game even if you have never played it before. I'm sure of that because I did it.

Anyway, I'm not complaining about players behaviour, because I know it's normal that people react the way they have since nodoby (me) has watching the recordings, and everybody wants to be the best. But I'm happy because some of the players I've disqualified the recordings had emailed me before to ask if they were doing right, or after to thank me about my decision, so I know they aren't unsporting.

Well, forgetting bad things, the tournament is exciting because there is a fight at the top, and we have more than 2 weeks until the end turns up. Stay tuned, because at last two weeks we'll publish new Week Codes one for every week.

I did not sent any comment about my two disqualified recordings, so I'll just make it clear that such disqualification has been done by Ed in a really fair way. Therefore I did not even think about saying anything about that. I just sent two new recordings, hoping not to break some other rule :)
The Tour is all about trying to push your gaming skills to their limits, so if - even in the best of intentions - some "shortcuts" are found, that can be rightfully perceived to be unfair. I can say, after so many years of taking part in the ST, that it is not easy to find a group of people as friendly and sportsmanlike as the staff of the Tour and those who take part in it :)
Anyway, I'm glad to see that this year's competition is really taxing. The battle for the top will likely go on until the last minute! It would be even better if some other player could try to make it to the top other than me, Bad Beard and Stack.

Hello Ale, I know you are a ST veteran, you don't have to explain yourself. If someone finds a trick to get more points and nobody bans the recordings, it's normal that other player plays the same way to not go down in the Leaderboard.

As I said, i think it's our fault for not watching the recordings before.

I'd like to be in the fight for the top positions, but it's impossible, this year I have no time at all.

Good luck!

The problem is that when I compete myself, I just can't find the time to watch and time other recordings LOL

I know that I can learn from watching them, but I prefer to learn myself. Being one step behind all the time by watching others recordings are no fun, so I try to learn myself. However, I do peak once in a while :)

But the problem for me, (as even if it doesn't look like it, I try to compete as good as I can), is that I can't find the time to check those recordings. Like this year, where I was looking forward to be playing. I can't do both. So, my confirming will start when I feel I can't improve anymore, or when the Tour is over.
