Everything is ready!

Thanks to Michael Bruhn aka Frankie, we have all pages and the rest of stuff updated in our site. First of all, you can view the final voting result, maybe someone can be surprised, but that's the Speccy Tour, not always the most famous titles are chosen by our players. Here you have the fina list:
Moreover, you have an interview to Earth Shaker's developer made by Michael some time ago, we hope you like it. And you have another new section, where you can view some videos of special moments played into the tournament.

Before you start to play and record anything, you must download the official snapshots, and read the Special Rules for some games. But more important, this year you have to record your games using a Tournament Code: 9002 for every recording you submit. You'll have to use this code during the first 6 weeks, for 7th and 8th weeks we'll publish different codes.

If you are new to Speccy Tour, please read how to record games, in the main page you have instructions of how you must do it. Anyway, if you have problems, please ask in our forums, or in this blog.

Galactic Trooper hi-score


At my last post I said the final score will be 70k-75k points... Obiously I was wrong!. Last Saturday I saw a Rebufo's score of 84,900 points, so I decided to play some games and try to improve my score of 64,600 to climb some places... After viewing his game and confirmed it, I played some games and got 87,740, so I was impressed by myself, because before that I was unable to do more than 56k... But I realize I could do it better, so 15 minutes after I got 97,100, losing some stupid lives, but now I was at first place!. The magic figure of 100k was very close to me...

Rebufo was still playing, and got 106,820 points, so I couldn't give up, so I played again until I got my current score of 107,900... But a winner is a winner, and Rebufo didn't give up too... Now the first place it's his again with 116,040 points...

These kind of wars are the things I like of SpeccyTour, and these wars encourage players to get the games to its limits.
How much time will that record survive?, which will be the max score for Galactic Trooper when the tournament ends?

First impressions

First two weeks have passed, and I've played eight of the games. As I said before, I have no much time, but this year I'll play until the end, I don't know if I'll be able to fight for the victory, but I'm going to try it...

Some comments about the games I've played for now...
  • Daley Thompson's Decathlon: I've played very few games and got a good record, but it'll be beated.
  • Turmoil: This is one of I like most. I've not played too much, but I think I'll reach last stage.
  • Gotcha: Frustrating game, you have to play hundreds of games to control it right. I think this game is getting crazy to more than one player :).
  • Galactic Trooper: Another good game. I like it!, but it's true that playing at 50k points it's hard... As I said to Alex, final score will be 70-75k.
  • Beaky: I've only played four games, and got first place, so I think I won't be at top too much time.
  • Android 2: One of my favorites, it seems very hard at first 50 games... and it is!. I have to train a lot...
  • Uridium: Zoran has got a very good score, I'm at 2nd place but I think this week I'll be 4th or 5th.
  • Dictator: It seemed strange to me at first glance, but it's not bad game... and its timing has let me play it while I'm looking after my daughter :)
There are another two games I've not played at all. Lotus and Codename Mat... may be they will have some chances...

Speccy Tour starts tonight!

Here we are!, one more year SpeccyTour is going to start tonight at 0:00 GMT+0, it means that players from Denmark, Italy, France, Serbia and Spain, are able to submit recordings at 1:00 GMT+1, and Uruguayan player at 21:00 GMT-3.

I think this edition will be amazing or at least different because of new scoreboard system, that will give more chances to regular players, so you don't need to be a monster to have good points. And don't get frustrated if a game seems hard at first plays, I asure you that you'll get to be a good in a game if you play it regulary.

Well, games (snapshots) are available to download here. I'll put the link at blogs's right side too. Remember to read first the special rules (also translated to Spanish)since if you avoid some of them, your recordings will be disqualified. Also it's important to say again that recording at last two weeks will need a code that you'll have use, but we will calculate that code when time arrives...

About demos... It has been problems with Codename Mat demo, I can't replay it, so the video is unavailable, Dictator's demo is 30 minutes long, so you have to view it through RZX file. The rest of video demos (Gotcha and Galactic Trooper) are uploaded at our Video Channel.

New SpeccyTour

I'm so sorry, but today I've been very busy at work. Well, after counting your votes, the SpeccyTour 2008 will have a F1-style scoreboard, and you'll be able to choose 8 of 10 games like last year.

The scores will be: 15-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

A F1 scoreboard will give more oportunities to average players over super start players, because it won't matter if first player gets 1M points and 2nd 50k points, there will be only a difference of 3 points. The worst players will have no points at all, but that's no difference because in a percentage-style the worst players had less than 5 points instead of 100 points of the first players.
With the games, you will be able to choose the 8 that you like more, avoiding those you don't like to play...

Few years candidate, but never even close. Tons of fun, tons! :-)

Shoot'em up: Uridium
Again, few years... but 'strong' candidate. This one IMO fits in 'most competitive' category.

Was nominated, but no one voted for it. It's time for justice, spot light for this fast & atmospheric game!

Gem lost in oblivion, frantic action.

Complex: Codename Mat
Now it's time for hair goes up, nightmare of ST08, not that hard as on 1st look.

Logic / Breakout: Dictator
Total surprise!!! SHOCK!!!, management strategy on ST... unbelivabe!!!

Again I'm very sorry, I wanted to upload the demos as YouTube videos, but yesterday my laptop was infected by Beagle virus, and today I'm going to format the HD and restore the system. I'll try to have all the demos along the week.
