Final laps!

Hello everybody!, we're close to finish this Speccy Tour edition. Also we've found a new player that fights hard to win the tournament, Stack (aka Venerable Stack :)).

There is a big fight between Gazzosa and Stack, and there isn't too much difference. The leaderboard doesn't show right scores, it might only counts 8 best scores, but for now, it has a little bug and counts all the scores. So the real leaderboard is:

I've warned zoran, because he has a great score in Uridium, so it'd be sad to remove his score because of not to submit 8 recordings.

And the most important message in this post, is that last two weeks aer special, from 8th Dec to 14th Dec we will publish a Week Code (a number), that you must use when you record a game.
Sunday 14th, we'll publish another Week Code for the last week of the tournament.

As you must know, WK are used in order to not have recordings saved from the beginning of the tournament, so you can't submit them last days breaking all the competition.

Well, this Sunday I'll publish the first Week Code, so stay tuned.

RZX recordings disquialified

This is a warning to every SpeccyTour player, especially to new players... Some recordings may be disqualified if you don't follow these rules:
  • Use official snapshots.
  • Make recording using External Snapshot.
  • Make recording in Tournament mode.
It's very easy to save your games following those instructions, so if you don't want to get annoyed because you got a great score but your recording is not valid, please, follow these rules.

More Special Rules

If you have read the scrolled message at Speccy Tour main page, you'll have realized that Special Rules for Turmoil have changed. Now it's not only important the stage completed, also the time wasted to reach it. So if a player complete the 5th level in 20 minutes, and another player did it in 15 minutes, faster players will have more points.

Talking about Galactic Trooper, egomezpe asked me a which level must choose before start. It doesn't matter you can select what you want, although I advise you to start at level 1 ;).

Speccy Tour starts tonight!

Here we are!, one more year SpeccyTour is going to start tonight at 0:00 GMT+0, it means that players from Denmark, Italy, France, Serbia and Spain, are able to submit recordings at 1:00 GMT+1, and Uruguayan player at 21:00 GMT-3.

I think this edition will be amazing or at least different because of new scoreboard system, that will give more chances to regular players, so you don't need to be a monster to have good points. And don't get frustrated if a game seems hard at first plays, I asure you that you'll get to be a good in a game if you play it regulary.

Well, games (snapshots) are available to download here. I'll put the link at blogs's right side too. Remember to read first the special rules (also translated to Spanish)since if you avoid some of them, your recordings will be disqualified. Also it's important to say again that recording at last two weeks will need a code that you'll have use, but we will calculate that code when time arrives...

About demos... It has been problems with Codename Mat demo, I can't replay it, so the video is unavailable, Dictator's demo is 30 minutes long, so you have to view it through RZX file. The rest of video demos (Gotcha and Galactic Trooper) are uploaded at our Video Channel.

Some players doesn't have their name complete, there's a bug in profile's editor, but you can solve it. Edit your profile, fill your name again and submit. If you come back again to that form, to change something, you have to fill your name again.

Problems trying to sign up?

I have notices from people that is having problems to sign up at SpeccyTour. I know the website is not very friendly, but register is very easy, it's only two steps:

1 - Register at HARP => http://www.homeactionreplay.org/newuser.php

2 - Register as SpeccyTour player => http://www.homeactionreplay.org/editregister.php

3 - To see if you are registered right, go to => http://www.homeactionreplay.org/currentsignup.php

That's all...

Another thing is registering at the forums. If you're a new player you won't be able to do it until you submit a recording, yes I know there are old players that can't do it either, but we're trying to solve that issue.

Hi folks, this post it's only to inform you that the rules page is updated. We have it also in Spanish for everyone that have problems with English.

And my home laptop is live again, so I think you'll have our demos ready before the tournament begin.

New SpeccyTour

I'm so sorry, but today I've been very busy at work. Well, after counting your votes, the SpeccyTour 2008 will have a F1-style scoreboard, and you'll be able to choose 8 of 10 games like last year.

The scores will be: 15-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

A F1 scoreboard will give more oportunities to average players over super start players, because it won't matter if first player gets 1M points and 2nd 50k points, there will be only a difference of 3 points. The worst players will have no points at all, but that's no difference because in a percentage-style the worst players had less than 5 points instead of 100 points of the first players.
With the games, you will be able to choose the 8 that you like more, avoiding those you don't like to play...

Again, few years... but 'strong' candidate. This one IMO fits in 'most competitive' category.

Now it's time for hair goes up, nightmare of ST08, not that hard as on 1st look.

We have some demos in RZX format for you to see how to play some of them except Lotus Esprit and Decathlon. Again I'm very sorry, I wanted to upload the demos as YouTube videos, but yesterday my laptop was infected by Beagle virus, and today I'm going to format the HD and restore the system. I'll try to have all the demos along the week.

You could change the tour!

For this season, we ask players how they would like to be the tournament, instead of ask them for the games they would like to play. Thus, we have sent an email to old players with two questions:

Scoreboard style

a) Old style. Scores calculated as a percentage of the max score.

b) F1 style => 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (10th player got 1 point).

c) F1 style => 15-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (12th got 1 pt).

Number of games

a) Old style => 10 of 10 games.

b) ST07 style => 8 of 10 games.

c) Octalon => 8 of 8 games.

d) Lazy tournament => 6 of 8 games.

You have to reply the email with your choices. If some of you didn't recieve that email, please let me know and I'll change the email address I have in my list. New people can't vote, we're sorry, but it's an important decision and for now we only rely on people who had participated before.

Anyway, the tournament is open (as always) to everybody, old and new players...

Please, stay tuned, because all the news will be announced here, no more emails will be sent, unless somebody want it. This way, nobody will lost emails, trash it, and get spam, so if anyone want to read some about SpeccyTour, the only thing to do is type the URL of this site.
